Airbus Germany GmbH contributes significantly to the
manufacturing of the forthcoming Airbus A 380. For the production plant
in Hamburg a 180 ha area has been reclaimed form a shallow side arm
of the Elbe River. All facilities and buildings will be provided with
all facilities (energy, water, pressure air, fire fighting, heating,
air conditioning, communication) and disposal like sewage and storm
water drainage need to be arranged.
The design and construction sequences has to consider that the plant
shall be developed in phases and that construction activities shall
not affect the production.
The supply and disposal lines have a total length of about 3,500 m.
A long term settlement of the reclaimed area will be significant, special
facilities have been developed for the transfers to the hangar, which
are pile supported.
Particular consideration was given to the storm water drainage to cater
for extreme events.
The pavement consists of concrete pavement on a 40 cm thick cemented
bearing layer.
