The area at the Zollenspieker is a very popular destination of Hamburg and is located directly on the river Elbe. The ferry house is standing under conservation of ancient monuments and the ferry slot is a main attraction for excursionists and tourists.
In the Zollenspieker a restaurant with ballroom and beer garden are offering their services.
The main attraction not only for tourists is the location of the ferry house directly on the bank of the river Elbe outside the dyke.

High demands for the design of the new building are required due to the exposed situation of the Zollenspieker and the historical meaning of the Zollenspieker ferry house in immediate neighbourhood. This challenge was solved by the architecture office ASW from Hamburg.
A hotel new building with 56 rooms should be built, approx. 6,000 m² total floor area and converted space of 22,000 m³.

The situation in front of the dyke creates extreme engineer-technical demands. That means that beside of the planning and realisation of the flood control for the building, also the foundation, water tightness, dyke and slope protection. These plannings were provided by the Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft, as well as the static calculation.

With the planning of the building equipment the engineer office of Boll & Hauser from Itzehoe was instructed.
The Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft has taken over the project management on trust for the developer and co-ordinates the architect and engineer achievements.

The assignment of the construction achievements should occur in single crafts. The quality assurance, costs and schedule control, the construction management, the achievements of the health and safety coordinator are performed by the Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft.
