A 6-storey building with a gross floor area of
about 5.000 m² and a single floor underground garage was erected
on the property Teilfeld 5 which encloses a surface area of 1,090
m². The construction is marked by two contrary sectors: a massive
reinforced concrete component with a brick-dazzled hole front and
a circular building with an almost 100% glass front. The main, carrying
building substances are made from reinforced concrete. Steel- and
glass- constructions accentuate the extraordinary character of the
building.
The glass front is numerously infiltrated by the reinforced concrete
constructions which determine the remarkable appearance. The thematic
separation was obtained mainly by insulation baskets. The building’s
inner development includes a generous hall which reaches over all
the floors. It is coined by the steel filigree stairs and the elevator
pit made from steel tube- and glass-constructions.
The building is based flat on single and strip foundation. The building
ground consists of glacial loam and boulder clay. Settlement problems
between the new, the existing and the transition building were solved
by the building succession and constructive measures at the connection.
The building was constructed in a blocked building pit. The area
available for the construction site was greatly restricted as three
fronts of the plant access directly to public streets.
Sellhorn
overtook the master planning in co-operation with the Architekturbüro
Markovic, Ronai, Lütjen. This collaboration included the following
main components:
- Architecture and engineering technical planning
- Achievement and structural design
- Achievement in technical supplies (heater, air condition, ventilation,
sanitary engineering, electronic engineering)
- Thermal building physics
- Coordination of achievement for noise control, architectural
acoustics, soil mechanics, earthwork, foundation engineering
as well as measurements
- Project management.
