Mayor of Dar Es Salaam visits Olaf Scholz
Hamburg's First Mayor received Lord Mayor Isaya Mwita, his counterpart from the Tanzanian twin town, in Hamburg's city hall.
Following Lord Mayor Isaya Mwita’s entry into the Hanseatic city's “Golden Book”, both mayors signed an updated Joint Declaration for Cooperation valid until 2020. Olaf Scholz emphasized that exchange and discussion are essential in a globalised world, and described the partnership with Dar es Salaam as "a great tool". The twinning agreement, in place since 2010, has since been supplemented by a climate partnership between Hamburg and Dar es Salaam, signed in 2012. One important field of cooperation in this context is the provision of advice to the Tanzanian port authorities.
