Construction work for the new "Seeschlösschen" pier enters the next phase. The official start of the bridging was celebrated with a Tea Time Party on 30.12.2011.
On land and at sea, local residents and guests celebrated the official start of the construction work for the "Seeschlösschen" pier – scheduled for completion in a few months, including the teahouse. The patron Jürgen Hunke, creative mind and financier of the teahouse, poured a generous portion of jasmine over one of the steel piles of the future teahouse on the new "Seeschlösschen" pier at Timmendorf Beach. Previously, the guests of honour invited to the first "Tea Time Party" were sailed from Niendorf to where the new bridge is being built.
The teahouse on the "Seeschlösschen" pier is scheduled to open in summer 2012. The pier will reach 135 metres far out into the Baltic Sea, the planks will be nine metres wide. With its glass bottom, glass facade and a roof similar to the white crests of the sea the two-storey teahouse at the end of the pier will increase the attractiveness of this popular destination for excursions.
Following an architectural and engineering competition, Sellhorn was awarded the planning contract and is now also supervising the construction work.
