Hamburg Construction Day 2019

The Hamburg Construction Day at Hamburg University of Technology (TUUH) took place for the 16th time this year, organised by the Faculty of Construction and Environmental Engineering and Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein Building Industry Association.

In addition to honouring outstanding graduation and research theses, the Hamburg Construction Day focusses on the exchange between science and practice. The building industry of the future and correspondingly the orientation of the faculty were hotly debated in numerous presentations under the theme of “Building Visions”.

In parallel, a career networking fair with a large number of engineering firms, construction companies and public employers facilitated an exchange between the building industry and TUUH students and graduates.

Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft was present as an exhibitor on 26th June for the very first time. Andreas Denk and Jörn Lindemann gave ongoing structural engineers a detailed insight into day-to-day work and project management at Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft. The interdisciplinary project work in an engineering firm between structural, port and hydraulic engineering, traffic, industrial and area planning and structural engineering caused a great deal of enthusiasm for our activities.

The highly varied work routine, for example, with several national and international projects in which building and structure planning in the numerous project areas come together in one person and the steep learning curve is supported and promoted in all areas by the exchange of expertise with numerous colleagues, aroused particular interest.

Due to the positive reaction of students and the exciting exchange with building industry colleagues we are already looking forward to the 17th Hamburger Construction Day next year. “But we are looking forward even more to the future colleague or colleagues who will hopefully soon strengthen our ranks at Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft. The great potential of new blood for us and the construction industry was definitely already clearly discernable”, Andreas Denk and Jörn Lindemann summed up at the end of the sunny 2019 Hamburg Construction Day.
