Key Responsibilities:
Your role as Coastal Engineer is to develop cost-effective solutions to rehabilitate coastal island infrastructure. The main activities consist of:
- reviewing detailed designs and drawings for maritime / coastal infrastructures,
- defining acceptable standard level of works required,
- creating work methodologies and specifications,
- elaborating bill of quantities documents,
- assisting in procurement processes,
- ensuring compliance with environmental and social safeguards,
- liaising with stakeholders and advising on construction oversight.
- other: briefing / training of client’s counterpart staff in responsibility; representation of team leader / project manager on-site, if necessary.
Start: Immediately, duration of assignment: 1 year (optional renewable), Central Pacific Region
What we expect from you:
- M.Sc./B.Sc. in Coastal or Marine Engineering, or a related field
- 10 years of experience in design and implementation of coastal engineering and/or dredging works
- Experience in construction and maintenance contracts for coastal protection systems
- Experience in developing countries on similar assignments
- Experience in client’s capacity building
- Good knowledge of MS Office programs as well as MS Project
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English (and in German as an additional advantage)
- Integrity and cultural awareness
